The Greater Holders Hill Community Tourism Experience (GHHCTE) a product of the Barbados Community Tourism Network (BCTN) launched its programme of activities and organization on October 7, 2018 at the Desmond Haynes Sports Complex, Holders Hill, St James, Barbados. The launch was done in collaboration with the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA), the Countrystyle Tourism Network/Villages as Businesses (CCTN/VAB) and the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT), Community Tourism Network.
Present were the Chairman of the BCTN, Damien Daniel, Dr Marcia Brandon, Managing Director of Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Livelihoods (COESL), and CCTN/VAB partner Eastern Caribbean, who was representing Diana McIntyre Pike President/Founder of the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network/Villages as Businesses. Also included was the CEO (ag), BTPA Marsha Alleyne and a number of Government officials from the BTPA.
The Minister of Tourism the Honourable, Kerry Symmonds braced the bad weather, and as the Featured Speaker, he gave an excellent address. Others in attendance also did excellent presentations, these included The Hon. Sandra Husbands, Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two Ministers of Government are also Parliamentary Representatives of the four main communities involved in the GHHCTE which are Holders Hill, Haynesville, Hoytes Village and Halls Village.
At its core, the GHHCTE has a rich cricket and sporting history with international renown. The Experience involves a walk of fame, nature and cultural tours, great local cuisine, cultural market and showcase, visits to historical locations including a museum of an international renowned gospel singer, exciting community concerts, special arts and craft, night-time sporting events, and the experience of local dining and cultural lifestyle. There are also plans to have a signature events month.
The Greater Holders Hill Community Tourism Experience is proud to have been awarded Partnership Member Status with Jamaica’s, Countrystyle Community Tourism Network/Villages as Businesses founded by Diana McIntyre-Pike, and the IIPT International Community Tourism Network. This status gives credence to business development and marketing support together with the Barbados Community Tourism Network. The Greater Holders Hill Community Tourism Experience will be included in the Countrystyle Caribbean Community Lifestyle Experience vacations and tours to Barbados for local, regional and international visitors.
