Jamaica has produced some of the greatest minds in their area of work. Diana McIntyre-Pike is a Jamaican who has been blazing a trail of success in her endeavors. As a Youth and Community Development Practitioner, i became aware of the work Diana McIntyre-Pike has been doing in the tourism sector at the Community level. Her out-of-the-box thinking and cutting edge ideas has brought the Jamaican community-based tourism sector to another level and has empowered individuals and communities to access benefits they never dreamed could happen. She has added tasteful, elegant, traditional/cultural and intellectual flair to a niche market that many thought wasn’t practical. Diana McIntyre-Pike, along with a selected few, has proven that Community-based tourism is a viable option for Jamaica’s development.
