COURSE DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Community Hospitality Entrepreneurship Programme will introduce participants to the concept of
\nCommunity Tourism, and the practical steps required to build hospitality products & services within their
\ncommunity, utilizing the community destination brand, geared to both domestic and international visitors.
\nDuring the programme, participants will identify unique community assets (heritage, culture, attractions), and
\nthrough a highly interactive approach build the starting components for setting up their community-based
\nbrand and business, by utilizing the business model canvas. Community participants agree on next steps and
\nbegin steps to implement their project.<\/p>\n

LEARNING OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At the end of the programme participants should be able to:
\n– Define tourism and its importance
\n– Identify the economic linkages generated by tourism
\n– Understand the benefits of tourism
\n– Define Community Tourism
\n-Identify the main principles and values of community tourism
\n– Identify what is a community tourism experience
\n– Identify community tourism assets
\n– Identify the importance of protecting community assets
\n– Appreciate the value of authenticity in community assets
\n– Know the difference between genuine hospitality and artificial hospitality.
\n– List the hospitality services required by visitors
\n– Identify how the community can participate to satisfy these needs
\n– Evaluate suitability of current community services to visitor needs
\n– Awareness of a community tourism Home Stay experience.
\n– Requirements for Community\/Host Guiding
\n– Determine community tourism experiences possible in host community
\n\uf0b7 List the basic requirements for setting up a community tourism business based on understanding
\nvisitor needs
\n– Define what is a cluster
\n– Identify the networking opportunities in meeting requirements of setting up a community tourism
\nbusiness.
\n– Identify Potential Community Tourism Projects
\n– Create a community tourism experience value proposition based on the value proposition canvas and
\nidentified community assets to be utilized.<\/p>\n

Write a value proposition

\n– Identify customer segments for community tourism value proposition

\n– Identify best-fit pricing and income streams
